  1. Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Apples:

    • Place the chopped apples in a pie plate.
    • Sprinkle them evenly with cinnamon and brown sugar.
  3. Make the Topping:

    • In a heavy medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat, being careful not to burn it.
    • Once melted, remove from heat and add the turbinado sugar, flour, egg, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
    • Whisk briskly until the mixture becomes gooey and smooth.
  4. Assemble and Bake:

    • Spread the gooey mixture evenly over the apples, using a spatula if needed.
    • Bake for 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crisp.
  5. Serve:

    • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm for the ultimate comfort dessert!
